Pink Vanguard

Pink Vanguard is a herbaceous hybrid peony belonging to the Saunders’ triple hybrid group. It has an early to early midseason bloom period and bears light milky pink, cupped semi-double flowers with long, broad guard petals and several rows of smaller inner petals. The flower has excellent substance and stamens, and it resists damage from late freezes. The plant is strong and erect, growing up to 40 inches in height and producing large blue-green leaflets. Side buds extend the flowering period. Pink Vanguard is a good source of seeds and pollen for breeding desired forms. It is listed in the Hollingsworth accession catalog as number 1827.
